Pedigree

Foaled 7/7/97, bl. chestnut, 14.2h, 950#. This Dyberry Robin descendent is such a great horse to work with. His agreeable disposition makes him readily trainable for driving and he will no doubt do anything asked of him, making him truly versatile. He shows the traits of a beautiful stallion. Handsome, masculine head, little fox ears, broad between the eyes, deep jowl, medium-length crested neck blending back into a deep barrel, nice length of hip, tail carried gaily, excellent legs with good bone, and perfect feet!

Below is Art Powell, sire of Sir Arthur.

Photo from an old post card

"Art Powell, a true black chestnut with no white, he was perfect with
classic type, 14h and weighed from 900-950#. His head was
"drop dead gorgeous". He was a high headed horse, with very
muscular quarters especially in the shoulders which were very large.
His chest was as they say "capital" being another 'Figure and Billy
Root like' quality, and he was well finished up. His tail carried well.
Art was a very active horse, for he would stand still scarcely a
moment before he would be prancing around his handler again. His
moderate balanced action in keeping with this boldness would leave
you thinking it was greater than it really was. His show career was over too short
(he had always been in the ribbons, winning a Grand Champion Stallion Class
at the large Erie County Fair in NY), due to a severed tendon on his left hind leg
at the age of six. It was noted, "His legs before injury, were clean and sound;
his feet hard, one of the traits he passed to his offspring. His eye catching
     manner was unsurpassed and did not go unnoticed as was true in so many of the ancient
                     Morgans." By Diane and Bruce Orser, LMBA Historian.

* * *

"Between all the stallions left by him, the power of transmitting to his
progeny his own form, constitution and temperament, was a very
distinguishing trait of the Justin Morgan, and we believe no horse ever
lived that possessed in a higher degree the power of stamping upon his
offspring his own great leading characteristics. While they differed in the
particulars we have herein set forth, (which difference was rather in the
degree than the nature of their qualities), they all possessed the great and
striking features of their distinguished sire. The same compactness of form,
great muscular development, hardy, rugged constitution, docility and
tractability, short, easy, rapid step, eager ambition and lofty carriage, so
remarkable in him, were found in each of them in a high degree. Through
these noble channels, the blood of the Justin Morgan has been poured
profusely into the hitherto hardy stock of Vermont, conveying not only the
very form of the great original, but all his unrivaled vigor, grace, and ease
of motion, combined with his docility and matchless courage." D.C. Linsley's
